Goodbye Garden

The garden has played out. Rudy & I took down the posts and fence today.

There's no need to leave the posts up - we're going to move it a bit next year.

Rudy is still in his air cast. He wrapped a plastic bag around it to keep it from getting dirty.

Walking - I'm on the Road Again!

My exercise routine has not been "routine" for some time. I have renewed my exercise vows and am exercising with an enthusiasm I have never had before. I mean it! Really!

As part of my ROUTINE, I am walking every morning. I am loving it. My most convenient walk is right outside my door. Luckily it's quite scenic.

Once I walk up the driveway, this is what I see at the gate.

Here's the view down my street.

This is at the end of our road, just as it meets the paved road.

Next I head down the paved road.
Most all of the property beyond is part of a big, scenic farm.

They keep the farm looking picture perfect year round.

At this point in my walk, the batteries on my camera gave out. One of these days I'll take my camera on my walk again. The barns and farm scenes further down the road are really pretty.

Still, these pictures should clearly show that I should have been walking every day since I moved here. It sure is a wonderful way to start my day.

Fall Gourds, Mendhi, & Doodling

As I perused a few of my favorite blogs this morning, I happened on a new blog with a post about decorated gourds. I wasn't expecting much. I've seen some pretty ugly decorated gourds. I was pleasantly surprised today. The Blog is Just Something I Made. The blogger is Cathe Holden. She is a doodle-er supreme.

Interestingly, a few months ago I came across some research showing that doodling helps you focus. I love to doodle and anything that validates something I enjoy is good. I just have to remember not to doodle on Rudy's papers while I talk on the phone. I think I've broken that habit.

Anyway, Cathe has focused her doodling talents by incorporating Mehndi designs - you know, those seemingly complex designs often drawn on hands. You usually see them on a beautiful Indian woman.

You really should check out her posts on Copper Metallic Gourd Embellishing and Doodling and Mahandi. One of her readers commented that Zentangles were another similar doodling style.
