I've been thinking about shelves - mostly for the booth, but also for home ~
in the house, on the porch, in the garden... I am wishing for creative and frugal solutions. I have admired
vintage ladders used as shelving. This past weekend, I found one!
I found the ladder at a
yard ~tool-shed~ sale. It wasn't even for sale. The man made me
swear that I wasn't going to use it to climb on! He said if I was going to use it as a ladder, he'd rather just burn it for the wood. He was such a sweet man! When I promised it would just be a display shelf, I put his mind at ease and he let me have it.
The ladder is not in that bad of shape. Nothing's broken. The worst part is the little shelf thing-y at the top, which is easily replaced. It's a bit weathered and looks like it's spent some time outdoors, so I definitely won't climb up it. It's EXACTLY what I've been looking for.
I need to add shelves
and
I need to decide how to finish it.
What else do I need???

| Ok - it's not exactly a ladder or a shelf, but it's fun and creative. It's an extended ladder back chair (Anthropology display) as seen on C Dianne Zweig |
Now, don't you wish you had my ladder?
I've joined in with the following parties:
I love the look of these! It's such a creative idea to store and display things. Hope yours turns out nicely!
ReplyDeleteSuch a cool idea. I never thought of this. I love that blue one used outside to hold pots of flowers. I am totally going to do this next spring!
ReplyDeleteYes, I wish I had your ladder :)

I love to use ladders and your post just caught my attention big time! I was floored to see one of my pics in there, love that! I just set up a ladder with baskets in my livingroom, I'll be posting about it soon. LOVE the white garden ladder with the wreath at the top, very clever!
ReplyDeleteThose are great!!! Thank you for the inspirations!!
ReplyDeleteI love a lot of those ideas. Sadly we have cats who would in no way be able to stay off the shelving. Hmm, wonder if there's a way to kitty proof some of those.
ReplyDeleteoooh - I'm way jealous of your awesome find! Love the man who sold it to you was so concerned too! How sweet! I love the look of the ladder shelving! Unexpected and interesting and functional!
ReplyDeleteHi there~
ReplyDeleteLOVE your ladder and all your inspiration photos!! I aw a ladder at the thrift store recently- I was thinking about asking if it was for sale- but I think they were using it even in it's shabby old condition! Now, I might have to go back and ask! Thanks for joining Feathered Nest Friday!! Nice to meet you! Hope you'll come back again sometime and share some more great inspiration! :)
The ladders are great! I have about four or five, I love using them. You did a great job!
ReplyDeleteGreat ideas for using the ladder! We have a ladder a lot like that one (which we still use occasionally...) maybe I should make it over for pots or something. :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing with the Garden Party. For fall and winter, you can link up seasonal recipes, garden themed gifts, decorating and such. I'm going to have a list of Winter link-up themes tomorrow at the Tuesday Garden Party, so check in and plan your posts!
