Recipes

This recipe page is a work in progress!  Thanks to IBS or whatever it is I have, over the last couple of years, I have been morphing over to a whole different way of eating.  Now, my husband has been diagnosed with cancer, so the healthy eating plan is going into overdrive.  Talk about motivation!

There are two main sections on this page.  At the top are recipes I can eat now.  The bottom section has links to recipes I've posted about in the past.  My past life recipes taste great, but contain ingredients that have declared war on me and are not at all optimal for fighting cancer.




I have had to eliminate a number of foods from my diet. Wheat seems to be the worst, but sadly, it's not the only culprit.


Most of the recipes I am using now are not only gluten-free and dairy-free, but also Paleo, Primal, Whole30, and elimination Diet friendly.

Recipe Make-Overs
Many gluten-free or Paleo people try to fake their favorite recipes. I've tried that and have decided to get off that path. I prefer just getting back to basics.


I recently read on the Whole30 site how having one of those made-over recipes was like Sex with Your Pants On (SWYPO) - "good… but not that good.  You can tell yourself it’s okay, it’s still pretty good, you’re totally satisfied… but that’s kind of a lie.  Because you know exactly how good pants-less sex feels."   I have found that those pretend recipes are also lots of trouble to make - way more trouble than they are worth.


Clean Eating Recipes 
Clean eating doesn't really require a lot of recipes.  Mostly it's just simple cooking. Lots of steaming.  Fresh salads.  Good vegetables, simply cooked.  So my recipe list isn't very long.  I love to browse Pinterest to help mix things up and remind me of what I haven't cooked in a while.  I am very prone to getting in a rut and having the same things too often.
